Amanano Rural Bank PLC, headquartered at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region, has made a significant contribution to this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebrations.
The Bank has donated four 700-litre chest freezers valued at a total of GHS50,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) offices in Atwima Mponua, Nwabiagya North, Bosomtwi, and Bibiani–Ahwiaso–Bekwai Municipal, which will be awarded to the Best Female Farmers in the respective districts.
The initiative forms part of the Bank’s broader sponsorship package aimed at promoting excellence in agriculture and empowering women who continue to play a vital role in food production and rural development.
By focusing on female farmers, Amanano Rural Bank seeks to highlight the indispensable contributions of women in sustaining households, communities, and the national economy.
In addition to the freezers, the Bank has introduced a special award for the Best Female Farmers Group in the Atwima Mponua District. The winning group will receive a Rice Harvester, a modern agricultural machine that is expected to boost productivity and reduce post-harvest losses. This gesture underscores the Bank’s commitment to supporting mechanisation and innovation in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The donation was formally presented by Prof. Kweku Dwomor Kessey, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, who was joined by fellow Board Member Raymond Ofosu-Atuobi and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Bediako. Their presence at the ceremony reflected the Bank’s collective dedication to strengthening ties with farming communities and advancing rural development.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Kessey expressed the Bank’s appreciation to Ghanaian farmers for their hard work and resilience.
He emphasised that the agricultural sector remains the backbone of the nation’s economy, and the Bank is proud to play a role in recognising and rewarding the efforts of farmers, particularly women, who often face unique challenges in the industry.
Representatives from the beneficiary districts—Ms. Elizabeth Appiah (Bosomtwi), Mr. Atta Agyemang (Nwabiagya North), Ms. Cynthia Manual (Bibiani), and Mr. Appiah-Ofori Stephen (Atwima Mponua) received the items and expressed their gratitude, with Ms. Appiah thanking the Bank on behalf of all districts.
The gesture by Amanano Rural Bank has been widely commended as a timely and impactful contribution to the National Farmers’ Day celebrations.
It not only provides practical tools to enhance food preservation and mechanisation but also reinforces the importance of empowering women in agriculture. The Bank’s sponsorship package is expected to inspire greater participation, innovation, and excellence among farmers across the Ashanti Region and beyond.
