Nsawam-Adoagyiri witnessed a charged political atmosphere when its Member of Parliament and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, mounted a passionate defence for former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid.
Speaking to delegates during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign stop, the MP urged the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rally firmly behind the former Vice President in the upcoming January 31, 2026 presidential primary.
According to Annoh-Dompreh, Dr. Bawumia is the leader the party needs “at this moment” if it intends to reorganise itself and make a strong case for a return to power in 2028.

He stressed that competence, loyalty and a futuristic sense of leadership should guide delegates’ choice, not emotions or internal factions.
“We need to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” Annoh-Dompreh declared emphatically, his voice rising to meet the cheers of the delegates.
He drew comparisons with President John Dramani Mahama’s political journey, saying “If John Mahama lost and returned as President in 2025 then Bawumia, who has worked hard and served faithfully, will surely return as President in 2029. But it begins with us, we must give him the mandate.”
The MP highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s contributions to Ghana’s transformation agenda, including his digitalisation reforms that reshaped public service, his role in navigating economic turbulence and his ability to mobilise the party’s youthful base.
These, he argued, make him the candidate with the clearest path toward revitalising the NPP after the 2024 defeat.
Dr Bawumia’s visit to Nsawam became a spectacle of its own. What was intended to be a modest engagement with delegates quickly transformed into a mini-rally, as residents and party supporters poured onto the streets, cheering him with enthusiasm.
The electrifying reception served as a testament to the constituency’s admiration for Dr. Bawumia and its alignment with Annoh-Dompreh’s call for renewed leadership.
Annoh-Dompreh reminded delegates that Dr. Bawumia had consistently supported the constituency and played a significant role in its development efforts.
“He has helped our constituency in many ways and he has supported me personally. He has done no wrong to Nsawam-Adoagyiri. He deserves our unflinching support and our votes,” he said.
He added that Dr. Bawumia’s humility and leadership style, coupled with his capacity to inspire young people, position him as the most viable option to reinvigorate the NPP’s political machinery.
Responding to the warm endorsement, Dr. Bawumia expressed profound gratitude and praised Annoh-Dompreh’s dedication to the party.
“Annoh-Dompreh is an exceptional leader. I am grateful for his support,” he said.
Turning his attention to the delegates, the former Vice President reiterated his readiness to lead the NPP back to power.
“I am asking you, the delegates, to vote massively for me on January 31. I want to lead the NPP into the 2028 General Elections and work with dedicated people like Annoh-Dompreh to deliver real solutions.”
He reassured the gathering that his track record in digital transformation, public sector innovation, and economic reforms demonstrates his capability to address Ghana’s pressing challenges and navigate the nation toward progress.
