Former USA captain Landon Donovan is yearning for a clash with the Black Stars of Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The draw for the 2026 World Cup will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, as the qualified countries find out their group opponents for the tournament to be held in North America.
Ghana and the United States have rich history at the World Cup, meeting three times, with the Africans emerging victors twice.
Donovan was part of the team that lost twice to Ghana, including the quarter-final defeat at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Now retired, Donovan wants Ghana in USA's group, claiming it is time to 'get over the hurdle'.
"I want to play them. I want to get over that hurdle. For my personal sake, I want some vindication," he said on Fox Sports as he build his ideal USA group.
The Black Stars have been placed in Pot 4 of the draw, making it highly likely for Ghana to face USA.
The last time the two teams met at the World Cup, the United States defeated Ghana 2-1 in their group opener at the tournament in Brazil.
