Ghana’s Patrick Akoto has been appointed General Coordinator for the CAF African Schools Football Championship WAFU B Qualifier in Burkina Faso.
Akoto’s rise in football administration has earned widespread admiration. He progressed from serving as GHANASoccernet Editor to becoming Communications Director of Medeama SC, and now works in the Communications Department of the Ghana Football Association.
His appointment reflects CAF’s growing trust in his expertise, after handling the role of Assistant General Coordinator during the U17 qualifiers in Abidjan.
Meanwhile, Ghana will participate in the competition with their U15 boys and girls national teams. Both squads, consisting of 20 players each, arrived in Burkina Faso on Saturday ahead of the tournament scheduled from December 1 to December 4, 2025.
The qualifiers form part of CAF’s development programme aimed at strengthening school football and identifying future talent within the sub-region. Teams from Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Benin, Niger and hosts Burkina Faso will also compete for a place at the continental finals.
