Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has confidently promised supporters victory in Sunday’s Super Clash against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The highly anticipated fixture kicks off at 4 pm, with both sides eager to gain ground in the Ghana Premier League title race.
Hearts currently occupy fourth place with 16 points from eight matches, while Kotoko sit eighth on 11 points but have three games in hand.
Despite the points gap, Zito believes his side’s ambition and determination will make the difference.
“I'm assuring them [fans] because I told them before the start of the league that our main objective is to win the league and everything,” he said.
Zito stressed that Kotoko’s focus is to return to continental football after being eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup.
“Consistency goes with quality, as we all know, and you can’t be consistent without qualifying to play in the CAF Champions League or the Confederation Cup,” he explained. “So our objective is to go and beat Hearts of Oak. That’s all.”
Victory on Sunday would ease pressure on Kotoko and restore confidence among their supporters, while a win for Hearts could cement their early-season momentum.
