Ghana Football Association Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has suggested that Black Stars coach Otto Addo will resist the urge to make sweeping squad changes for next week’s international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
There has been growing speculation about the inclusion of in-form uncapped players and dual nationals for the upcoming games, but Twum believes Addo will prioritise continuity over experimentation.
According to him, the coach intends to sustain the team’s rebuilding process by retaining the established core of his group.
“As we speak, I haven’t seen who is in the team and who is not, but I think the coach would like to continue his rebuilding exercise by keeping the core of the team,” Twum told Joy Sports. “It helps in team bonding, team building, and consistency.”
Twum explained that the limited number of fixtures before next year’s major tournaments means there is little room for large-scale changes.
“After this window, the only official international window will be next year in March,” he noted.
“Then after that, we may not play again until two weeks before the tournament. So, as much as possible, you would like to keep the core together.”
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Japan on Friday, November 14, before meeting South Korea four days later as part of preparations for next year’s international competitions.
