Ghana coach Otto Addo expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following the Black Stars’ 1-0 victory over Comoros, a result that secured Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking after the match, Addo reflected on the challenges posed by the visitors. “I think we had a good game. And now, we can maybe, for this little thing, use the word luck. The first three, four minutes, they had a good chance, but they didn’t score. In all, I think we controlled the game. They came like I expected, and they’re very, very dangerous. Especially on counterattacks, they are really dangerous. But we managed the game well. We grew into the game with a solid defence and good midfield.”
The Ghanaian tactician also acknowledged areas for improvement. “At one, we could have done a little bit more to create more chances. But it’s not an easy team. It’s a small country and I have big respect for what they’re doing - how they brought their football team together and how organised they are. Big respect also for the coach, really a very good coach.”
Addo concluded by highlighting the positives from Ghana’s campaign: “We controlled the game, had a lot of ball possession, created chances, and could have scored more. But I’m very happy that we won, even though maybe it was not needed. I’m very, very happy that we closed these qualifiers with a win.”
Ghana finished the Group I qualifiers with 25 points from ten matches, topping the group and securing a place at next year’s World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
Ghana will learn their group opponents on December 5, 2025, when the World Cup draw is held in Washington, D.C.
