
Seventeen-year-old referee Adongo Angelous Akurugu earned widespread praise for his outstanding performance in the Ghana Premier League clash between Nations FC and Asante Kotoko at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Saturday.
The Navrongo Senior High School student, one of the brightest prospects from the “Catch Them Young Refereeing Initiative,” handled the tense match with remarkable maturity, confidence, and control.
Despite the heavy rains that threatened to delay kickoff, Akurugu maintained calm authority throughout the encounter, earning high marks from officials and fans alike for his decision-making and composure.

He was assisted by Joseph Teye Awasabi and Haruna Yakubu on the lines, with Kingsford Oteng Yeboah serving as fourth official. The match was supervised by Commissioner Tasembedo Ousmane, while Referees Appointment Committee Chairperson Christine Enyonam Zigah acted as assessor.
