Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan was impressed with the goal-scoring prowess of the Black Stars on Wednesday, after their 5-0 mauling of Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking after the game in Morocco, Gyan said it had been a long time since he saw such ruthlessness from the national team, adding that he believes the second-half adjustment by the technical team did the trick.
“I haven’t seen this in a long time. First, I want to thank Ghanaians for their massive support. In the first half, we struggled a bit physically and had to make adjustments, and you saw how offensive and sharp we were in the second half. They’ve shown they can score goals, we scored three against Madagascar and now five today,” Asamoah Gyan told 3Sports.
Following the win against Central African Republic, Ghana remain top of the Group I standings with 22 points and on the verge of securing qualification to next year’s World Cup.
For Asamoah Gyan, Ghanaians must tone down the celebrations after the big win, and troop to the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to rally behind the Black Stars to beat Comoros in their final World Cup qualifier.
“But it’s not time to celebrate yet. We must finish the job in Accra, and I’m calling on all fans to come in their numbers to support the team,” Gyan added.
