
Head coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru has revealed that a disciplined counter-pressing system was the key to Hohoe United's stunning 4-1 victory over the previously unbeaten Karela United.
The newly promoted side secured their first-ever Ghana Premier League win in emphatic fashion, handing Karela their first loss of the 2025/26 season. The decisive victory at home showcased a perfectly executed game plan from the hosts.
Speaking after the match, Coach Bashiru explained that the team's training focus directly translated to their on-field success.
“During the course of the week, we really worked on counter pressing and our pressing system,” he stated. “I think that’s exactly what happened⦠they did so well I hope it should continue this way.”
The result marks a significant milestone for Hohoe United, who gained promotion to the top flight by winning the Division One League.
After two draws and a loss in their opening matches, this commanding performance propelled them to eighth in the league standings, while Karela dropped to fifth.
