Semper Fi earned their first victory of the season with a determined 1-0 win over Accra Lions in their Access Bank Division One League Zone III encounter at the Tuba Astro Turf on Monday afternoon.
Following their 1-1 draw with True Democracy in the opening round, the team had been urged to sharpen their finishing and improve tactically, and they delivered a more disciplined performance this time around.
Both sides started brightly, sharing possession and creating half-chances, but neither could find a breakthrough in the first half. Accra Lions, who also drew their opening match against Attram De Visser Academy, looked comfortable on the ball but struggled to penetrate a well-organised Semper Fi backline.
The deadlock was broken midway through the second half when Semper Fi earned a penalty after sustained pressure. Francis Eshun stepped up confidently and converted from the spot to hand his side all three points.
The win moves Semper Fi to four points from two games, while Accra Lions will be seeking their first win when they return to action in the next round.
