FC Samartex 1996 continued their impressive home form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana FC in their Ghana Premier League matchday four encounter on Monday morning at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
The game, originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon, was postponed to Monday due to heavy rainfall in Samreboi which rendered the pitch unplayable.
Despite the rescheduling, the Timber Giants showed focus and determination from the onset, taking the lead as early as the 10th minute through Osman Zakaria, who finished off a fine attacking move to send the home fans into jubilation.
Aduana, who were hoping to end their dismal away run, struggled to create clear-cut chances against a well-organised Samartex defence.
Their task became even more difficult after Mezack Afriyie was shown a second yellow card early in the second half, reducing the visitors to ten men.
Samartex controlled proceedings for large spells but failed to convert several opportunities that could have sealed the win earlier.
Aduana pushed late in search of an equaliser, but the hosts held firm to secure all three points.
The victory extends Samartex’s unbeaten home streak to 12 league matches, while Aduana’s away woes continue, having now lost seven consecutive games on the road.
Christopher Ennin's men move up the table with renewed confidence, while Cioaba Aristica's Aduana will need to regroup ahead of their next fixture.
