Just hours after his official call-up to the Ghanaian national team was announced, defender Kojo Oppong Peprah was in action for his French club, OGC Nice in the ongoing UEFA Europa League.
The 21-year-old was named in the Black Stars' 24-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros. This marks his first-ever invitation to the senior national team.
Peprah celebrated the milestone by playing 80 minutes for Nice in their 2-1 Europa League loss to Turkish side Fenerbahçe. He put in a solid defensive shift, making key contributions including four clearances, two blocked shots, and two interceptions, while completing 84% of his passes.
The young defender is expected to feature again for Nice in their Ligue 1 clash against AS Monaco before joining the Ghana squad for the international break.
Ghana will face the Central African Republic on October 8th before hosting Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 12th.
