Asante Kotoko to make decision on Ghana Premier League after tragic death of fan
Asante Kotoko management is set to decide whether to continue competing in the Ghana Premier League or suspend their participation indefinitely.This follows the tragic stabbing of a passionate club supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, during their Matchday 19 clash against Nsoatreman FC on Sunday at the Nana Kronmansah Park.Before the fatal incident, tensions flared between players and officials of both teams, leading to heated confrontations on the pitch.Speaking to Asempa FM, club communications member Seth Nii Darko confirmed that Kotokos management will consult with the clubs life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, before making a final decision on their league participation.Asante Kotoko management to decide whether to continue with the season or not, he said.The management led by Kwesi Appiah and Nana Apinkrah will visit Otumfuo Osei Tutu and inform him of what happened in Nsoatre, and after that, a decision will be made.He also expressed his personal stance on the matter, saying, Personally, I wish the club would boycott the league and demand for suspension of the league indefinitely.Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko has strongly condemned the violent act and pledged full cooperation with authorities in the ongoing investigation.In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely suspended Nsoatreman FCs home venue and appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor to lead the investigation.
