The Ministry of Works and Housing has stated that the construction of new housing units in all areas where Agenda 111 projects have been cited remains a priority for the new Minister and the Ministry.
According to the ministry, the construction which will be part of the rural housing projects sanctioned by President Akufo-Addo in clear-cut guidelines remains a priority for the new Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a ministry retreat in Koforidua to help the new sector minister abreast himself with ongoing projects at the ministry, the spokesperson for the ministry Mannaseh Atta Boahen, indicated that the ministry has the financial muscles to see to the completion of the project within 10 months.
He said the ministry has the full backing of the President for the realization of these key projects.
“When you look at the various areas the Agenda 111 are cited, you realise some are at various stages of completion. We believe it’s something that can be done, once we have the financial resources to do it, there wouldn’t be any much difficulty in ensuring we build new housing units where Agenda 111 were cited.
“The Ministry of Finance has the financial muscles, and there’s backing from the president to ensure that this key target is met. There are no constraints with resources.”
He added that the sea defence project also remains a priority likewise the abandoned Saglemi housing project which the minister is set to visit and meet contractors of the project in the coming days.
“The President also mentioned the sea defence project and the drainage system, these are very important and are of utmost priority. I can assure you that very soon we will begin work to ensure we desilt some of the big drains in the country to keep us prepared for the floods and the rainy season that we are waiting for. We are very much prepared and very soon we will move into action in the coming weeks.”
