Jordan Ayew moved up to 300 Premier League appearances in Leicester City’s 2-0 defeat against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Leicester’s woeful run of failing to find the back of the net in their last six Premier League games was increased to seven after an atrocious showing at Etihad.
The Foxes’ battle with relegation seems like a lost course – one that is impossible to ignore at this point.
After their latest defeat, Leicester have garnered 17 points from 30 games, a dissapointing return which places them 19th on the table.
Despite making their return to the English top flight ahead of the ongoing season, Leicester’s stay may well be short-lived as all indications suggest Ruud Van Nistelrooy and his side are out of their depth.
Nonetheless, Ghana forward and skipper Jordan Ayew featured in his 300th Premier League game – a record tally of appearances by a Ghanaian in the competition’s history.
Ayew is in his 10th season in the English top flight, featuring for a host of clubs, including Swansea City, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
Ayew’s love affair with the Premier League stretches back to the 2015/16 season, where it began with Aston Villa.
In his 300 games thus far, the 33-year-old has scored 41 goals and provided 25 assists.
His 65 goal involvements puts him among the top five Ghanaian players with the most goals contributions in the league, while his 300 Premier League games by an African is only bettered by Wilfred Zaha (305) & Kolo Toure (352).
Ayew, who joined Leicester last summer, has been among the Foxes’ brightest sparks, scoring four times in 25 league games in a vapid season.
