2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Kofi Adams hails Black Stars vital win over Mali

Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has hailed Black Stars' vital win against Mali in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. 

Ghana, after drawing 1-1 against Chad, secured a 1-0 win against the Eagles of Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Matchday 8 games on Monday night.

Alexander Djiku's 49th-minute header sealed the all-important win for the Black Stars to strengthen their lead in Group I.

Speaking after the game, Kofi Adams commended the players for securing the much-needed three points, stressing that the result proves Ghana’s readiness to compete at the highest level.

“It was a good game, we won. What we wanted were the three solid points, and we got the points that we needed,” the Member of Parliament for Buem constituency said.

“We are really ready. We talked about qualifying for the World Cup. We didn’t win against Chad, but the boys played all out, and we have now beaten Mali, which is the strongest side in this group. The rest, we are going to deal with them also," he added.

After the win, Ghana, after 8 games, have 19 points and will hope to seal their qualification when they take on Central African Republic and Comoros in the Matchday 9 and 10 games in the qualifiers in October.
