
Versatile Ghanaian youngster Caleb Yirenkyi has been named in the top ten list of defensive midfielders in Europe who ply their trades outside of the top five leagues.
Yirenkyi, who can also play as a right-back, is enjoying a remarkable campaign following an electric start to the season for Danish topflight side FC Nordsjaelland.
His performances since the start of their year has seen earn his way into the national team, the Black Stars, making his debut during the Unity Cup in London.
According CIES Football Observatory, the 19-year-old ranks fourth on the list of best defensive midfielders under the age of 20 in leagues outside the top 5.
Yirenkyi earned a rating of 71.1, just behind Danish-Ghanaian midfielder, Noah Nartey who plays for Brondby IF.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate emerged as a transfer target for several clubs during the summer transfer window but could not conclude a deal.
He is expected to make a move to the top 5 leagues in January following his blistering form in Denmark. Yirenkyi has scored and delivered an assist in seven games this season.
The teen sensation was also one pf Ghana's best players during the international break, starring against Chad and Mali as the Black Stars inch close to World Cup qualification.
