Dutch-born Ghanaian midfielder Matthias Nartey has completed a move to Swedish top-flight club IK Sirius from Dutch Eerste Divisie side SC Cambuur.
The highly-rated 20-year-old has penned a long-term contract with the Uppsala-based outfit, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2030.
The move comes just days after it was confirmed that Nartey would depart Cambuur, where he developed his game in the Netherlands’ second division.
Nartey, who is eligible to represent Ghana at international level, expressed delight after sealing the switch to the Allsvenskan.
“I like the way of working here at Sirius. They know my playing style very well, so there was no doubt when they got in touch with their interest,” Nartey told the club’s website.
“I am a strong player who can run a lot, a box-to-box player who is good with the ball.”
With nine games left in the Swedish league season, the talented midfielder hopes to make an immediate impact and help Sirius climb higher in the standings.
Sirius head coach Jonathan Ederstrom was full of praise for the Ghanaian prospect, describing him as a versatile offensive midfielder with great potential.
“Matthias is a player with both physical strength and technical ability. He can operate in a box-to-box role or as an advanced playmaker. While he is mainly recruited with 2026 in mind, we believe he will contribute this autumn as well,” Ederstrom said.
