Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association Ibrahim Saanie Daara has reacted to the invitation of Derrick Arthur Köhn to the Black Stars team ahead of the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualification games.
The Black Stars will play Chad in Ndjamena on September 4 before hosting Mali in Accra on September 8, with victories in both games crucial to securing them a ticket to the World Cup.
Currently, the West African powerhouse sit top of Group I, accumulating 15 points after six matches, followed by Comoros (12 points), Madagascar (10), Mali (9), Central Africa Republic (5), with Chad yet to secure a point.
Ahead of the games, Otto Addo has unveiled his squad, with Kohn, who plies his trade for Union Berlin grabbing his first invite.
“Derrick Köhn will be the most influential foreign-born player for Ghana since Kevin-Prince Boateng. Three years ago, I asked Otto why he was not called for Black Stars, but he explained the player was not ready for Ghana” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Kohn will battled it out with AJ Auxerre star Gideon Mensah for starting role in the national team.
Ghana will regroup in Accra on Monday, September 1, to commence preparations for the next round of games scheduled for September.
