Hong Kong topflight side Biu Chun Rangers have announced the signing of Ghanaian central midfielder Abbey Agbodzie.
The 25-year-old signed signed a deal to join the club, also referred to as Hong Kong Rangers, for the 2025/26 season.
Agbodzie joined his new teammates on Thursday and took part in the pre-season friendly against Eastern District.
"I'm delighted to be joining Standard Rovers in this beautiful city. When I received the offer, I thought it was a great opportunity. Luckily, there are other Ghanaian players on the team, which will definitely help me adapt," said the midfielder.
The 25-year-old joins Ghanaian duo Nassam Ibrahim and Maxwell Ansah who he has known from his days in the West African nation during their youth football period.
"I've known them for a long time. When I received the offer, I contacted them about Hong Kong and the club. They told me a lot of positive things. I hope to help the team and improve myself, so I can have a great season," said Agbodzie.
The former Sportslife FC and Balti player also disclosed his reason for joining Rangers despite interest from other top clubs.
"Although I'm new to Hong Kong, I've been keeping an eye on the Hong Kong Premier League. Last season, other Premier League clubs were interested in me, so I have some understanding of Hong Kong football," continued Agbodzie.
"Every team starts at the same level. I don't think we'll be at a disadvantage. The most important thing is to approach every game with confidence."
