Ghanaian midfielder Baba Alhassan made a telling impact for FCSB in their thrilling 2-2 draw with Rapid Bucuresti in the Romanian Liga 1 on Sunday evening.
The game at Arena NaÈionalÄ had a lively start, with Mihai Lixandru putting FCSB ahead in the 7th minute with a close-range header. Rapid struggled to break through, and the first half ended with FCSB holding a slim lead.
Alhassan was introduced at halftime for captain Darius Olaru, and it didn’t take long for him to leave his mark. In the 61st minute, he slipped a clever pass to Daniel Bîrligea, who made no mistake with a powerful finish to double FCSB’s advantage.
But the night turned dramatic. Elvir Koljic pulled one back for Rapid in the 83rd minute, igniting the home crowd. Deep into stoppage time, Koljic struck again to level the match, breaking FCSB hearts.
Despite the late setback, Alhassan’s assist highlighted his growing influence. FCSB now turn their focus to a crucial Europa League qualifier against Aberdeen.
