
Ghanaian defender Wahab Ackwei has chalked a new milestone in the United States following his latest appearance in the USL.
The former Inter Allies player reached 100 matches in the second-tier of soccer in the United States after featuring for El Paso Locomotive in the 2-2 draw against Monterrey Bay FC. During that period, Ackwei has scored seven goals and delivered five assists.
Ackwei, a former Ghana youth international moved to the United States in 2018 to join New York Red Bulls, but featured for the second team, playing in the USL.
He later played for Richmond Kickers, Loudon United Rio Grande Valley FC Toros, Colorado Springs Switchbacks and now El Paso Locomotive.
Ackwei achieved his latest milestone after making his 15th appearances of the 2025 regular season.
"Congratulations to Wahab Ackwei on making his 100th USL regular season appearance Saturday night!," wrote El Paso celebrating the player.
The 28-year-old won the USL Cup with Colorado Springs Switchbacks in 2024 before joining El Paso Locomotive.
Across all divisions and competitions, Ackwei has made 147 appearances in the United States.
