Ghanaian left-back Ebenezer Annan says he is honoured to join AS Saint-Ãtienne after completing a transfer from Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade.
The 22-year-old signed a long-term contract with the French Ligue 2 side until 2028, with an option for a further year. The deal is reported to be worth â¬2.5 million.
Speaking after the announcement, Annan expressed his excitement about joining one of France’s most historic clubs.
“I am very happy to sign for AS Saint-Ãtienne,” he said. “The club is building a good team, a great staff, and has enormous support from its fans. It is an honour for me to join this club. I will give my all in every match to help the team achieve its goals.”
Annan joins Saint-Ãtienne after a solid run of performances in Serbia, where he featured 19 times last season for Red Star, helping them secure both the league and cup titles. Despite being in line for UEFA Champions League action this season, he chose a move that prioritises his development and consistent playing time.
He will wear the number 19 shirt at Saint-Ãtienne and becomes part of the club’s push for promotion back to Ligue 1. Annan’s arrival follows strong interest from other European clubs, but his representatives say the decision was made with his long-term career in mind.
The former Bologna and FK Novi Pazar defender now looks to continue his upward trajectory in France, bringing both experience and hunger to his new team.
