WAFCON 2024: Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah reflects on key role in Black Queens win over Tanzania
Black Queens midfielderChantelle Louise Boye-Hlorkah has expressed her role in her side's win against Tanzania in the ongoing 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.After a poor start to the tournament, after losing to South Africa and a draw against Mali, Ghana recorded their first win of the tournament with a 4-1 win against theTwiga Stars on Monday at theStade Municipal de Berkane.Speaking after the game, Boye-Hlorkah said,Today, I was in a comfortable role. I like the wing, but I like being involved more in my natural position.I am glad to have played a little bit everywhere. A more familiar role for myself. I am so happy, she added.After being named the Woman of the Match,Boye-Hlorkah extended her heartfelt gratitude to her teammates and head coach, Kim LarsBjrkegren.The award could have been given it to any of my teammates. I want to thank the coach for playing me in this position, my teammates and the staff for the support, she said with an ear-to-ear smile after the game.Goals from Princella Adubea, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, andChantelle Boye-Hlorkah sealed the win for the Black Queens to finish second in Group C.The Black Queens will now turn their attention to a quarterfinal clash against Algeria, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
