Ghana’s biggest network provider, MTN on Boxing Day distributed 30 gift hampers to new mothers in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.
The donation of the gift hampers filled with assorted baby products is MTN’s way of celebrating the new babies who were born from December 24 to December 26 at some selected hospitals.
The team visited the Ejisu Government Hospital where MTN constructed an ultra-modern maternity block some 5 years ago, the KNUST Hospital, Kumasi South Hospital and others to share the joy and love of Christmas with the new born babies.
Speaking to Ultimate Business after the exercise, Mobile Money Implementation Manager for MTN, Northern Sector, Steven Asare mentioned that: “As a company, we’ve taken it up as an annual ritual to put smiles on the faces of our new born babies and especially the mothers.”
“It is also in line with our corporate social responsibility and our mission of making the lives of our customers a whole lot brighter; so every Christmas we visit the hospitals to give these hampers to the new borns.
He further stated: “MTN has targeted a total of 30 hampers, so when we go to the hospital, whatever quantity we get there, we give it out till we exhaust all the hampers we have for this year.”
“We don’t want to take any hampers back home, so we went to the KNUST Hospital, the Ejisu Government Hospital Maternity Block which was fortunately built by the MTN Ghana Foundation. We’ll be visiting other maternity blocks to donate”, Mr. Asare hinted.
Both hospital staff and nursing mothers of the various facilities visited were appreciative of MTN Ghana’s gesture.
Similar donations were undertaken by MTN Ghana staff in other parts of the country including Ho, Koforidua, Tamale, Accra, Bolgatanga and Tarkwa.
