President John Dramani Mahama is set to receive a comprehensive report from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) about the state of Ghanaian football.
Ghanaian football has seen a massive decline in all aspects, raising questions about leadership and the investment being made by the government over the years.
The recent downfall of the Black Stars and other national teams is alarming and needs urgent attention.
The report is expected to be at least 75 pages long and detail works done by the GFA in recent years, especially those concerning Ghana's National Men's team, the Black Stars.
Mahama's ascension to the throne on January 7, 2025, has paved the way for reforming the NDC government, which assured Ghanaians during its campaign in 2024 prior to the election.
Recent performances of the national teams
The national teams, especially the Black Stars, have failed to win a single game in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Otto Addo's led team failed for the first time in 20 years to make it to the tournament and the 9th time in the nation’s history to qualify.
Also, the Black Galaxies have also failed to qualify for the CHAN tournament to be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Despite the huge setback, Black Queens have managed, under their former coach Nora Hauptle, to qualify for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after missing out on the last two competitions.
Football in the country under the new GFA administration has seen a drastic decline, and vivid attention must be paid to the situation to find lasting solutions to the reoccurring problem.
