

The Confederation of African Football throw their weight behind North African State to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
North African state Morocco is in line to bid for the 2026 World Cup tournament and the Confederation of African Football has given its unflinching support to that bid.
This was announced by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad when he was briefing the media at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.
Ahmad Ahmad was very elated with the fact that another African country was eager to host the FIFA World Cup tournament.
“With respect to the candidature of Morocco the World Cup in 2026, the members of the CAF Executive Committee have favorably accepted candidature and have expressed pride in an African Country going to host the World Cup in 2026.”
In the 100 years history of the World Cup, Africa has organized the major event only once with South Africa hosting in the year 2010.
"Morocco’s bid will be an honor for our continent. On behalf of the Executive Committee of CAF we support Morocco’s candidature to bid for the 2026 World Cup."
Morocco have already lost bids to host the World’s grandest soccer stage on four occasions. Those were in 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010 to United States, France, Germany and South Africa respectively.
Morocco relinquished a chance to also host a major tournament in the 2015 African Cup of Nations as they asked CAF to postpone the tournament from January of that year to the summer.
Morocco’s hosting was given to Equatorial Guinea but Morocco have the pedigree in hosting the 2013 and 2014 FIFA World Club Cup tournaments.
Morocco are to compete with a huge bid from the CONCACAF region where Mexico, Canada and the United States bidding to host the event.
