If you're thinking about choosing the iPhone X over the iPhone 8, DON'T! Unless $300 dollars is chicken change for you because frankly speaking, the difference is not worth $300.
Apple launched its latest brands of the iPhone on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
The entire event was confirmation of rumours that had been around for the past few months ahead of the Apple unveiling show.
One of the biggest tech companies in the world skipped their usual S upgrades as we’ve come to see in recent years to go big in naming the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus instead of a maybe iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus.
But that was not the big talking point.
Apple revealed what they call the ‘future’ of smartphones, the iPhone X (pronounced the iPhone 10).
Truthfully, the iPhone X should have been the only phone Apple should have rewarded its loyal customers with having stayed with them (not to mention the number of unending debates with Android phone customers) for the last 10 years.
But no, Apple will just be Apple.
Knowing the loyal Apple product customers will hardly move away from their products, the tech giants know they could have just put components of the first iPhone released in 2007 in a new container for 2017 and people will still question their valid reasoning if that phone was really the future.

Creating the iPhone X alone in 2017 would have meant Apple stick to their pricing range of replacing new phone prices the old (albeit an additional $50).
However, if you’ve known Apple for some years now, extorting their loyal fans with minor changes and technical words is nothing new. Especially not in a year Samsung released a phone that is close to a $1000 dollars per gadget ($929 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8).
The iPhone X has a starting price of $999. That is way too much money for one piece of gadget considering the upgraded version of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, that is the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus starting at $699 and $799 respectively.
The noticeable difference between the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 is an extra piece of glass, Face ID and the ability for your phone to make you fool making funny faces; call Animoji.
Apple knows the fancy and sleek looking iPhone X will not trigger people to actually go in and see what iPhone 8 is all about, and save themselves some $300.
Here’s a breakdown of why the iPhone X should not be $300 more.
Comparing iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8
Screen Size and Camera
This is one of the notable difference. The iPhone 8 Plus is larger than the iPhone X but the later has a bigger screen than the former.
Face ID and Touch ID is also the second major difference aside the big screen size.
Now, that's about it. Everything else is the same.

Animoji
For the very enthusiastic and social media gurus, this is going to be a welcomed addition to how they express themselves to the world with emojis imitating their facial expressions. But that's where it ends.
A lot of iPhone X users will even forget they have this after a week's use. And also not every phone has the ability to make their users fool with facial expressions like the iPhone X. So replies will be dry. And who wants a text reply to an Animoji post?
The Verdict
If the iPhone you're picking is coming as a gift, then totally pick the iPhone X for its stylish and sleek look. But for a buy, it will be better to save some $300 (more if you're not in the US) and go with the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.
