The Denkyira Traditional Council has said that it will cleanse Denkyira Obuasi on Monday, (June 5, 2017) following the lynching of a Captain of the Ghana Armed Forces by some of the town folks.
In a statement issued by the Council, they expressed outrage at “barbaric killing” of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama. They condemned the action of the culprits.

“Nananom wishes to assure the entire country that this harsh attack on our soil is an attack on the culture and traditions of Denkyira and will perform purification rights on Monday 5th June 2017 at the Odeefuo Ahenfie at Dunkwa,”
The Council has also asked its citizens to cooperate fully with the security agencies as they work to arrest the perpetrators of “this dastardly act”.

However, the Council revealed that Denkyira-Obuasi has no history of galamsey activities and therefore the account given by the DCE of the area that the military was protecting a mining firm and are not on a mission of anti-galamsey is true.
The council called on the government to ensure that the growing lawlessness in the country is curtailed in order to prevent such incidents from happening.
