Ghanaian player Sulley Muntari has lost his father.
Muntari's father Alhaji Muniru has been battling with illness for sometimes now, but finally passed away on Monday, a close family source confirmed to Pulse.com.gh.
He will be buried according to Islamic tradition.
Alhaji Muniru who is a Ghanaian of Nigerian descent is a resident of Konongo in the Asante Akyem district in the Ashanti Region.
Sulley Muntari’s father been very influential in the football career of the former Inter Milan and AC Milan midfielder, having come out publicly to apologize on numerous occasions whenever his son erred against the state or the officials of the Ghana Football Association.
Muntari recently went viral for the right reason after the walked off the field in protest against racial chants towards him by fans of Cagliari whiles playing for Pescara in the Serie A.
He had public sympathy after the authorities of the Italian Football Association handed him a game ban for walking off, but it was overturned after they were criticised.
Sulley Muntari joined Pescara in the second half of the season, after sealing a six-month deal, but his presence couldn't inspire his side to lift themselves from relegation.
