Mawuko Girls’ Senior High beat their co Evangelical Presbyterian-affiliated school, Hohoe E.P Senior High to qualify for the National Science and Maths Quiz Wednesday.
All four schools in the contest battled for supremacy throughout the contest but after the penultimate round, it looked like Hohoe E.P SHS will carry the day.
Ho: End of contest:
EPC Mawuko Girls' SHS: 25pts
Hohoe EP SHS: 24pts
Nkwanta SHS: 23pts
Krachi SHS: 20pts
This contest has been tight right from the beginning till the end but the girls made it...congratulations! #NSMQ2019Regionals #NSMQ2019 pic.twitter.com/fpAkhFA2Of
They were leading Krachi SHS with four points and Mawuko Girls’ with five points.
Nkwanta SHS was behind with 18 points. At the point, it was anyone’s game with 20 points up for grabs.
Mawuko picked six of those points to go to. Hohoe SHS were left with nothing to do but kiss the national championship goodbye.
Mawuko Girls’ must wash off the disappointing performance in the qualifier if they hope to impress at the nationals.
History is not on the side of the Ho-based school with no record of them proceeding past the one-eighth stage.
