The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has cautioned the public against the reliance on unverified information about the services it rendered.
It has also advised the general public to desist from engaging with unauthorised agents and intermediaries in matters relating to the Ministry.
The Ministry, in a press statement issued and copied The Ghanaian Times yesterday, said that such unverified information about its services could result in misinformation and disinformation of the general public and could affect its reputation.
According to the statement, all official information and service updates from the Ministry were published on its official website, in accredited print and electronic media, and through its verified social media handles.
The Ministry, therefore, urged individuals seeking consular and other services it provided to deal with designated officers or accredited Missions abroad.
It further warned the public on the submission of forged or fraudulent documents as it constituted a criminal offence.
Such an offence, the Ministry said, would be immediately reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for further action to be taken.
“Any suspicious activity or suspected fraud should be reported immediately to the Ministry or the nearest Ghana Mission for verification and appropriate follow-ups.
Moreover, the Ministry provided clarification on the procedures and fees applicable to consular services at its headquarters, including attestation, travel certificate, and laissez-passor services.
The procedures, the Ministry said, included the submission of original documents duly verified by the Judicial Service of Ghana, along with a valid form of identification to the Consular and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry.
Other procedures, the Ministry said, were the payment of the approved fees of GH¢ 200 at the designated payment point located within its premises and the submission the official receipt of payment, together with the verified documents for processing.
“The Ministry wishes to assure the general public and Ghanaians abroad that it remains committed to ensuring efficient, transparent and client-friendly service delivery,” it added.
