
The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested four individuals suspected of being behind the robbery and murder of a mobile money vendor in Aflao. The suspects were picked up during a coordinated intelligence-led operation on May 10, 2025.
The suspects include; Michael Sewornu, 34, Korku Agboada, 43, Atsu Agbagla, 36 and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national – are alleged to have played key roles in the fatal shooting of Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor, during a robbery on April 28, 2025.
According to a statement signed by DSP Felix Danku, the joint operation was carried out by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), in collaboration with the SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce and a local watchdog group known as ‘ACTION NOW’.
Below is the full statement;
1.On May 10, 2025 between the hours of 1200 and 0200, the Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), in a joint intelligence-led operation with the Police SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and ‘ACTION NOW’, a Community Watch Committee in Aflao, arrested four (4) suspects who allegedly shot and killed a mobile money vendor in Aflao on April 28, 2025.
2.The suspects are Michael Sewornu, aged 34, Korku Agboada, aged 43, Atsu Agbagla, aged 36 and Utsuku Onyeso, aged 22, a Nigerian. They are currently in Police custody assisting in investigation.
3.It would be recalled that on April 28, 2025 at 18:15 hours, about five unidentified robbers attacked and shot Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement factory in Aflao.
He died at the scene, while the assailants took away his bag believed to contain money.
4.The suspects will be arraigned before court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
5.The Police are once again entreating the public to be security-conscious and collaborate with us by providing credible and timely information about criminals.
