Osei Assibey Antwi, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has been adjudged the Outstanding MCE of the year.
The award is in recognition of his support for the promotion of education.
The National Students Awards Secretariat, at the sixth 2020 awards ceremony on Saturday, October 31, 2020, held at the famous CCB Auditorium of the Kwame Nkrumah Science and technology (KNUST), said the Mayor of Kumasi has, over the years, demonstrated a considerable degree of interest in the area of education in the Kumasi Metropolitan enclave.
Mr. George Opoku Amponsah, Personal Assistant to the KMA boss, who received the plaque of honour on behalf of the Mayor at the ceremony, was grateful to the organisers for the extensive work done in arriving at such a conclusion.
He noted that Osei Assibey Antwi deserved the award and recognition by the National Students Awards Secretariat, since the Mayor has several prestigious awards to his credit as Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
Mr. Opoku Amponsah said the recent recognition by the National Students Awards Secretariat had come to consolidate the gains made by Osei Assibey Antwi since assumption of office as the KMA boss.
The Mayor of Kumasi has previously won the Dignified City Award in a Sanitation Challenge for rewarding excellence in liquid waste management, the Stewardship Award by Heroes of Faith, Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana Award, and Best Performed Metropolitan Chief Executive by the Pan African Heroes Foundation.
