Division One League side FC Ashantigold 04 have strengthened their technical team with the appointment of experienced Ghanaian tactician Abdul Karim Zito as the battle for Ghana Premier League promotion heats up.
Zito’s arrival comes shortly after he parted ways with Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko, following a spell marked by inconsistent results. Despite his recent exit, the veteran coach remains one of the most respected figures in local football, boasting a wealth of experience and a proven track record.
Confirming his addition to the technical team, the club expressed confidence in what he brings to the setup.
“Coach Karim Zito is in our camp. He has joined the technical team. His experience. His discipline. His winning mindset. This adds strength to our bench and belief to our squad. Welcome to FC Ashantigold, Coach. Let’s get to work,” the club announced.
Zito’s achievement in the domestic scene speaks volumes. During his time with Kotoko, he guided the Porcupine Warriors to multiple trophies, including the FA Cup, President’s Cup and the Toyota Cup, reinforcing his reputation as a serial winner.
Prior to that, he enjoyed a historic run with Dreams FC, steering the club to a remarkable semi-final finish in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they eventually bowed out to Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek SC.
With FC Ashantigold 04 currently leading Division One League Zone 2 with 40 points from 20 matches, the timing of Zito’s appointment could prove crucial. The club will be banking on his tactical acumen, discipline, and winning mentality to maintain their momentum and ultimately secure promotion to the top-flight.
