Black Stars head coach Otto Addo was present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday as part of efforts to closely monitor Ghanaian players in Europe ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Addo watched the Premier League encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland as a guest of Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus, whose impressive form since his summer switch from West Ham United has made him a central figure in the Black Stars’ plans heading into the global showpiece in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The occasion, however, took a worrying turn when Kudus was forced off after just 19 minutes due to an injury. The attacker was replaced by Randal Kolo Muani, cutting short what was expected to be another statement performance from the in-form Ghana international.
Following the match, Otto Addo spent time with Kudus to assess the situation, discuss the extent of the injury and align on the player’s short- and long-term plans as Ghana steps up its World Cup build-up.
The former Borussia Dortmund player and coach is tasked with leading Ghana to its fifth World Cup appearance, with the Black Stars drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatiaâa demanding group that will require peak fitness and form from the squad’s core players.
