Ghana coach Otto Addo says the Black Stars have navigated a difficult preparation period marked by injuries and delays in securing replacements ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against South Korea.
The squad has been hit hard in recent days. Francis Abu suffered a broken leg in last Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Japan, while Mohammed Salisu and Antoine Semenyo have also left camp to return to their clubs for treatment.
Their absence adds to the list of key players who did not make the trip to Asia. Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey and Jordan Ayew were unavailable, with Fatawu Issahaku also missing the games. The Black Stars now have 19 players in camp.
Addressing the situation, Addo admitted that replacing injured players on short notice has been complicated.
"We are happy to be here. We were facing some difficulties with some injured players. It is also, to be honest, not so easy for us to get replacements because of visa problems and issues. It is always not possible for us to get fast replacements. But we prepared very well," he said.
Despite the setbacks, Addo and his technical team remain confident that the group available can deliver a competitive performance.
Kick-off for Tuesday’s match is scheduled for 11:00 am local time.
