Basake Holy Stars will aim to build on their long-awaited first victory of the season when they welcome Vision FC to the AAK II Arena on Sunday.
Holy Stars finally ended their difficult seven-game winless run with a surprise 2-0 win over defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars FC last weekend.
The victory not only marked their first league triumph of the campaign but also brought an end to a 12-match winless streak in all competitions.
Despite that positive step, the Aiyinase-based club remain in severe relegation danger. They sit 17th on the table with five points, the second-lowest total in the league. Their attacking struggles have been central to their problems. They have scored only three goals all season, the fewest in the league, and have conceded 11, the joint-second highest.
Vision FC arrive in the Western Region boosted by an impressive run of form. They came from behind to defeat bottom-placed Eleven Wonders 2-1 despite being reduced to ten men, before holding Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw in midweek. These results have pushed them to 10th on the table with 12 points.
However, their away record remains a major concern. Vision FC are winless on the road this season, collecting just one point from four away matches, and scoring only twice during that run.
Coach Nana Kweku Agyemang will hope his side can finally end their away frustrations and extend their unbeaten spell.
Head-to-head history favours the hosts, as Basake Holy Stars won the only previous meeting in Aiyinase 1-0 since their promotion in 2024.
