Ilyas Ansah’s first team training session of the week at FC Union Berlin quickly took a turn for the worse.
During a competitive drill, the German-Ghanaian forward suddenly went down clutching his ankle and seemed to be in real discomfort.
According to reports from Kicker, Union’s physiotherapist Sven Kuhlbrodt gave Ansah immediate attention on the field. Ansah was able to continue training after a brief pause, showing his determination and commitment to the team.
After practice, Ansah’s ankle was wrapped with a cooling bandage as a precaution. Head coach Steffen Baumgart spoke at length with Ansah, making sure the player felt supported and understood the risks of pushing through discomfort. However, it remains to be seen whether Ansah will need to take a break from training in the coming days. The team and fans hope for a speedy recovery, acknowledging that football can sometimes be a test of physical and mental resilience.
Despite these challenges, Ansah’s current season in the Bundesliga is already making headlines. He has played 9 matches for Union Berlin during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist.
