Spanish forward of Ghanaian descent, Nico Williams, is set to miss Athletic Club’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Newcastle United due to pubalgia discomfort.
The youngster, per sources in Spain, has been playing through pain since the start of the 2025/26 football season.
It is understood that the medical staff at Athletic Club is considering surgery for the younger of the Williams brothers to resolve the issue.
As a result of the pain from the pubalgia, Nico Williams is a major doubt for his team’s trip to England for the midweek clash against Newcastle United.
Should he miss the match, it will be a big blow for the La Liga outfit in their quest to progress to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.
The encounter against Newcastle United is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm on Wednesday, November 5.
Meanwhile, there are fears that if the issue is not immediately resolved, it can get worse and affect his chances of being in good condition for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
