Heart of Lions returned to winning ways in style with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Friday in matchweek seven of the Ghana Premier League.
After suffering their first defeat of the season against Bibiani GoldStars last weekend, the Kpando-based side produced a commanding performance to maintain their perfect home record this term.
Lions took control of proceedings early on, creating several openings before finally breaking the deadlock in the 36th minute.
Michael Ephson’s low strike came off the post, and Kwadwo Obeng Junior reacted quickest to slot home the rebound for the opener.
Ephson, who had been lively throughout the first half, was rewarded for his efforts just before the break, doubling the advantage with a composed finish to put the hosts firmly in control at halftime.
The second half saw the visitors push forward in search of a response, but their lack of cutting edge once again proved costly.
Substitute Anthony Owusu put the icing on the cake with a sensational strike from his own half to make it 3-0, sealing a comprehensive win for Lions.
The result keeps Lions unbeaten at home and piles more misery on Holy Stars, who remain without a win or goal this season.
