Ghanaian-born midfielder Samuel Mawuena Gidi has been named in Slovakia’s U21 national team squad for the October 2025 FIFA international window, continuing his steady rise on the international stage.
The FC Cincinnati midfielder, who completed his nationality switch to Slovakia earlier this year, will be part of coach Jaroslav Kentos’ team for the upcoming UEFA Euro U21 Championship qualifiers.
Slovakia are set to face Moldova and the Republic of Ireland in crucial group matches as they push for a spot in the continental tournament.
Coach Kentos, who handed Gidi his maiden call-up in September, has shown faith in the young midfielder following his impressive performances and smooth adaptation to life in the Major League Soccer (MLS) since joining Cincinnati from MSK Zilina.
Gidi, 21, spent most of his career in Slovakia before moving to the United States, where he has continued to showcase his technical quality and maturity in midfield.
His inclusion in the U21 setup further cements his growing reputation as one of the promising young talents eligible to represent Slovakia.
The former Zilina star is expected to join the Slovak U21 camp next week as they prepare for their double-header fixtures in the Euro U21 qualifying campaign.
