Nations FC defender Razak Simpson has thrown his weight behind his club's Ghana Premier League title ambitions, declaring their determination to go one better than last season's near-miss performance.
The Black Stars defender, who recently missed Ghana's World Cup qualifiers but remains in national team contention, confirmed that winning the domestic league remains the club's primary objective this season.
"That has been our main aim for the past two seasons â to win the Ghana Premier League," Simpson stated ahead of Nations FC's crucial match against Samartex. "Always, our main aim is to win the GPL trophy."
The Abrankese-based club came agonisingly close to clinching their first-ever Premier League title last campaign, only to see their hopes dashed following a stunning 3-0 defeat to Basake Holy Stars in the penultimate round.
Simpson's comments come at a critical juncture for Nations FC, who currently sit 8th in the table after suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to Aduana Stars in their previous outing. The defender's leadership and experience will be vital as the team seeks to rebound against an unbeaten Samartex side.
The defender's confidence underscores the belief within the Nations FC camp that they possess the quality and mentality to challenge for top honors this season, despite the setback in their previous match.
