Greater Accra will face Central Region in the third-place playoff of the 2025 KGL U-17 Inter-Regional Championship on Saturday, September 27, at the McDan Teshie Sports Complex, with kickoff scheduled for 1pm local time.
Greater Accra narrowly missed out on a place in the final after a dramatic 6â5 penalty shootout defeat to Ashanti Region in the semi-finals. They will now look to finish their impressive campaign on a high by securing a podium spot.
Central Region also came close to the championship match but were edged 1â0 by defending champions Western Region in Thursday’s second semi-final at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence. They, too, will be eager to end their tournament with a statement victory.
Now celebrating its fifth edition, the KGL U-17 Inter-Regional Championship has firmly established itself as Ghana’s premier platform for discovering and nurturing young football talent.
The 2025 tournament features an expanded 12-team lineup, bringing together all ten Regional Football Associations alongside the two GFA Elite Academies, ensuring competitive depth and nationwide representation.
Supported by a landmark five-year, $1 million sponsorship from the KGL Foundation, the championship remains a cornerstone of the Ghana Football Association’s grassroots development strategy, fostering talent identification, safeguarding player welfare, and inspiring the next generation of Ghanaian football stars.
