The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed former Black Satellites boss Desmond Ofei as the new head coach of the national U23 men’s team, the Black Meteors.
Ofei, who doubles as an assistant coach of the Black Stars, has built an impressive track record with Ghana’s U20 side. He guided the Black Satellites to gold at the 13th African Games in 2023, led them to the U20 AFCON in Egypt after a strong qualifying campaign in Togo, and most recently secured bronze at the WAFU B U20 Boys Championship in Accra.
He will be assisted by experienced coaches Yaw Preko and Baba Nuhu Malam. Preko, a former Ghana international, has managed top Ghanaian clubs including Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics, and recently led the national U15s to gold at the Mondialito Promise Tournament in Israel. Malam, the current Pearlpia Ladies boss, previously handled the Black Maidens and has vast domestic experience with clubs such as RTU and Bolga All Stars.
The technical setup also features Montari Tagoe as Goalkeepers Coach, Atta Yeboah as Team Manager, and Eli Vorgbe as Video Analyst. On the medical side, Dr Eric Tetteh will serve as Team Doctor, supported by Physiotherapist Collins Annor.
