Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaian football fans to pack the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday and create a fortress-like atmosphere for their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Algeria's JS Kabylie.
With the Ghana Premier League champions forced to play their "home" match in Accra due to CAF stadium requirements, Manso is calling on the nation to adopt his team and help overcome the disadvantage of being away from their actual Bibiani home.
"We are playing in Accra. It's not our home ground, and so what we will appeal for is for all Ghanaians, those who can come to the stadium, to give us the support," Manso told Joy Sports, drawing parallels to recent national team support.
The experienced coach pointed to the electrifying atmosphere during the Black Stars' World Cup qualifier against Mali as the blueprint for what his team needs: "They did it for the Black Stars against Mali, so we are very sure they will do the same thing for us, and I'm very sure if they also come in their numbers, we can also win â and win well."
The appeal comes as GoldStars have relocated their entire training base to Accra to acclimatize to the stadium, recognizing that fan support could be the decisive factor in gaining a crucial first-leg advantage before the return trip to Algeria.
