Ghana teenager Caleb Yirenkyi continues to enhance his growing reputation after being ranked among the top ten U20 defensive midfielders in Europe outside the top five leagues by the CIES Football Observatory.
The 19-year-old FC Nordsjaelland star has been in scintillating form in the Danish Superliga, where he has cemented his place as one of the most reliable young midfielders in Scandinavia.
Known for his versatility, Yirenkyi is primarily deployed as a defensive midfielder but has also impressed when used at right-back.
According to the latest CIES report, Yirenkyi placed fourth overall with a score of 71.1, sitting just behind Danish-born Ghanaian Noah Nartey of Brondby IF.
His strong ranking is a testament to his rapid progress and consistency since breaking into Nordsjaelland’s first team.
A product of the famed Right to Dream Academy, Yirenkyi attracted interest from several clubs during the last transfer window, but no deal materialised.
With one goal and one assist in seven league appearances this season, the youngster is already being tipped for a big move to one of Europe’s top five leagues in the near future.
On the international stage, Yirenkyi’s reputation has soared further. He made his Black Stars debut during the Unity Cup in London and recently featured in Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali, where his composure and versatility drew praise from fans and pundits alike.
With his stock rising quickly, Yirenkyi is undoubtedly one of Ghana’s most promising prospects, and a breakthrough transfer to one of Europe’s elite leagues looks only a matter of time.
