The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has kicked against attacking personnel of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) because of the challenges facing the country’s football.
According to the Minister, although there are problems confronting the sport in the country that must be solved, it must not be personalised.
“I see problems to be solved, issues to be dealt with, but I don’t want to personalise the issues. First, when you enter into a space, you must not personalise the challenges until it is proven to you that the people are the problem. At that stage, if you go after the people, then you have every justifiable reason to do so,” Kofi Adams argued in an interview with Citi FM.
The Sports Minister continued, “People say we have a cozy relationship with the GFA. Kurt is the president of the Ghana Football Association. Ghana has national teams that we have given to the FA to run for us. You can’t have the group you have given your national teams to run, and always being in confrontation with the head of the group. Then you won’t be able to sit around to have a conversation.”
In the interview, Kofi Adams stated that although he has a very good relationship with officials at the Ghana FA, it won’t stop him from speaking out if things go wrong.
