Hearts of Oak goalkeeper coach Issah Najahu has declared the club “very much ready” for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, which begins on Friday with the Phobians hosting debutants Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The capital club concluded their pre-season in style by lifting the Democracy Cup after defeating Great Olympics, adding to the Homowo Cup they secured earlier in the off-season.
Najahu, who arrived alongside new head coach Didi Dramani, believes the team’s preparations have been ideal and that they are primed for the campaign ahead.
“Once the league starts next week, I think we are very ready for the season. As we have seen in the Top Four, we all saw what happened,” Najahu said after the Democracy Cup victory.
He stressed the importance of testing the squad against competitive opposition before the league commences.
“Top Four is a high-profile game, and before the league will kick start, you need to play at least high-profile games,” he explained.
“We have done that with the Top Four, and today we wrap up with the Olympics, which is also a high-profile game. Because Olympics is more or less like a Premier Division club, we don't see them as a Division One side but rather a Premier. I think we are very much ready for the season.”
Hearts of Oak, who finished last term in the top four, will be aiming to better that position when they kick off their campaign at 7 pm on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
